Fregate Island Seychelles
Fregate Private Islands
Named after the elegant tropical Fregate bird, and originally a refuge for pirates, the island of Fregate today is home to an extraordinary myriades of 16 villas resort.
With its lush cover of rare tropical trees and plants, its wildlife of rare birds and giant turtles, Fregate Island is the ideal escape for environmentally conscious travelers who are satisfied only with the highest standards of resort accommodations and services. Fregate is roughly one mile long and almost a mile wide. It is surrounded by brilliant waters of rich blues and greens and is ringed by seven fine sand beaches.
All 16 of Fregate's villas have stunning views of the island's beaches and surrounding ocean. Unusually spacious, their 2000 square feet is divided into separate glass-walled living and sleeping units which are joined by a shaded terrace for outside relaxation. On a separate level closer to the water is a private sun terrace with Jacuzzi. Inside the air-conditioned accommodations, Asian artwork and rare antiques are complemented by fabrics of Thai silk and fine Egyptian cotton. Satellite television is in all accommodations. To ensure the utmost in privacy for all guests, the villas are carefully sited around the perimeter of the island and are separated by lush natural growth.
The Rock Spa
At the highest point of Fregate Island is the resort's fabulous new spa. The first indigenous spa in The Seychelles, its multitude of beauty and health treatments make full use of the native plants grown on Fregate. House-size boulders surround pools, bridges and treatment rooms, most of them with awesome ocean views.

The island privately owned by the Mason family has embarked on a journey to epitomize a remarkable sustainable tourism investment allowing the safeguarding of the retreat’s stunning natural surroundings, while still offering the finest island style hospitality with a unique Seychellois flair.
The island’s estate uses organic methods to meet the needs of the island’s guests and inhabitants- rearing poultry for meat and eggs, cattle for milk, vegetables, fruits and herbs grown in soil fertilized by sea grass; and fish caught in our fertile waters.
The natural oils extracted from the island’s coconut trees are used in our massage and wellness treatments. Furniture is fashioned at the island’s workshop from the timber of fallen trees in the island’s forest; water drawn and desalinated from underground wells and supplemented by rain catchment reservoirs.
North Island Seychelles
North Island is a sanctuary where natural habitats, long neglected, have been rehabilitated so that endangered Seychelles fauna and flora could be reintroduced and given a place to grow and thrive. On this floating paradise, 11 guest villas have been built from local materials reaped from the rehabilitation process, where luxury and simplicity mingle to form a signature architectural style we call ‘barefoot luxury’.
The Piazza is the natural focal point of the Island, gathered around and beneath a large Indian almond tree. The architecture blends ovals and minimalist lines that lead the eye to the uninterrupted 360-degree views of beach, tree and the inner Island. The furnishings symbolize lightness and escape and a wide deck leads seamlessly onto the beach and the endless horizon.
The complete openness of the lounge and bar area is transparent and minimalist, while inviting sun-bed loungers and cushions supply sumptuous comfort. The library and scattering of artefacts are part of an ongoing essay in the old trading history of this magical place.
Your sanctuary: Each of our 11 villas is a home for a couple or family, lovingly and individually handcrafted by Seychellois and African craftsmen from wood, local-hewn stone and glass. This is your haven: a warm inviting space in which to enjoy a complete sense of ease and freedom. Should you wish, all 11 villas and the island as a whole can become your own private domain.
