Bird Island, northernmost island of the Seychelles is 100 miles north or a 30 minute flight from Mahé. Bird Island is located 28 miles away from Denis Island and on the edge of the coast of the Seychelles, where the ocean drops to over 2000 meters. During the period of the southeast trade winds (May-September), Bird Island is inhabited by a million sooty terns which lay their eggs on their exclusive territory.
"Esmeralda", the heaviest turtle in the world, this island is also an important nesting site for turtles throughout the year.

Mahe - Seychelles
Mahé, measuring 28km long by 8km wide, is the largest island, the cultural and economic center of the Inner Islands and gateway to the Seychelles. With a backdrop of huge granite peaks 1000m, it houses the international airport and the capital of Victoria.
The island is home to nearly 90% of the total population (approximately 72,200 people) reflecting Seychelles' diverse ethnicity and descent from African, Indian, Chinese and European populations and is the seat of government and the main trading center.

Round Island Praslin Seychelles
